Boyden Observatory

An optical observatory at Bloemfontein, South Africa. Since 1976 it has been operated by the University of The Orange Free State. The original Boyden Station was established in Peru in 1890 by Harvard College Observatory, with funds bequeathed for the purpose in the will of Uriah A. Boyden. It was moved to South Africa in 1926, where it was run by Harvard until 1954. Between 1954 and 1976 it was run by an international consortium of observatories.
